Title page to 'Twelve Etchings from Nature', by James Whistler, also called The French Set. Published in 1858 in London by J A Whistler at 62 Sloane Street and in Paris at Imprimerie Delâtre, Rue St. Jacques 171. Lettered in plate with the title, artist's name, publisher, date, and dedication. The page has hand-drawn and etched text at top and bottom framing a self-portrait of the artist sketching, his face shaded by a hat, surrounded by a group of children looking on.
