The panel is carved in high relief with the figure of the Elephant-headed god Ganesh. He is seated in lalitasana(royal ease) pose and has four arms. In the two normal hands he holds one of his tusks and a wood apple, and in the two upraised hands he holds a noose and a goad. He wears a headdress and a striped lower garment round his thighs. He also has a triple sacred thread encircling his torso.

Inventoried as part of the contents of the former India Museum transferred to South Kensington Museum in November 1879. Formerly gifted to the V&A and reaccessioned in 1924.
