Object history | Purchased from Sotheby sale on 1 August 1939, lot no. 192. Formerly in the collection of H.E. the Baron Ow-Wachendorf, former German Minister in Cairo. He had been a German Rhodes scholar at Oxford before the first World War and consul-general in Calcutta in the 'twenties. |
