Object history
Pollet argues that some of the engravings in this suite were inspired by Old Testament engravings by Bernard Salomon which illustrated the Quadrins historiques de la Bible by Claude Paradin. The first edition of this appeared in Lyon in 1553. See Christophe Pollet, Les Gravures d'Etienne Delaune (1518-1583) (Villeneuve d'Ascq: Presses universitaires du Septentrion, 2001), vol. I, p. 268.
