'Flander'. Horse viewed in profile, at a slight angle, facing to the right of the image; against a landscape background of small hills, trees and a winding river. The horse's tail is partially plaited and it is wearing a bridle, with reins and bit.
Lettered beneath the image: 'Fortes fundit equos fruticanti Flandria gleba Et doctos grauibus terram proscindere rastris / Diues et attrito cereales voniere sulcos Nec non et phaleras et amantes ephippia dorso'.
Titled 'FLANDER' printed in the centre at the top of the image.
The sheet has been trimmed, and is approx 1-2mm larger than the plate impression.
