Talbert (1838-1881) Probably made by Holland & Sons, London Oak with inlay of various woods Purchased with the aid of the HOward Bequest This chair closely resembes Plate XVIII, a design for a Dining Room Chair, in Talbert's seminal pattern book of Reformed Gothic furniture Gothic Forms Applied to Furniture published in 1867. Holland & Sons were the first London firm to employ Talbert. Several other Talbert pieces are shown nearby.(1993)
