Designer unknown Maker unknown Mahogany with brass inlay and gilt metal mounts Given by Blairman & Sons Several examples of this design and variations of it exist. Whilst it is possible that one of these dates from 1815 to 1820 and the others are copies, it is likely that they all are examples of the Regency Revival so popular in the 1890s. These 1890s pieces have often been confused with earlier examples, though they are variations on a Regency theme rather than actual reproductions. Several reproductions of Georgian pieces by the firm of Edwards and Roberts are also on show here.(pre July 2001)
