Tapestry Edging

1920-1950 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Tapestry edging woven with cotton warp and a wool and cotton/silk weft. 18 warp threads to the inch.

It is made of four rows, the top row is dark yellow, the next row is brown and a little smaller than the first row. The third row is the most intricate: it has small rectangles woven into the stripe. These rectangles are made up of two colours: the top is cream and the bottom half of the rectangle is blue. Around the rectangle there is a blue background. The top part of the background is a mid blue and the bottom a dark blue. These colours merge together in the middle. The fourth row is made up of single red strip at the top and the rest of the row is a very dark blue.
