Bookplate of William Hillier, 4th Earl of Onslow, inscribed with the engraver's initials and date 'Inv. W.P.B. 1903'. Plate depicts a gentleman's study with book-lined walls, a fireplace, a decorative screen and a large writing desk. The top of the plate shows two birds of prey on either side of a coat of arms bearing six blackbirds or crow-like birds. There is a large griffin overpowering a smaller griffin on top of a round helmet at the uppermost point of the plate and an oxymoronic inscription below which reads 'Festina Lente'.
