Harrod Bequest 1948 LITERATURE Mahoney, 45.18 It may be a preliminary study for the etching of a soldier resting his head on his knee (Bartsch, 20, p. 285, no. 59) which Mahoney dates 1649-1660, along with the other etchings of the series. But, as Mahoney observes, the attribution to Rosa is somewhat uncertain.
