Object history
This costume sketch by Michael Warre is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist Alix Stone in 1994. The projected design was possibly executed for a production of William Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew", performed by the Old Vic Company at the New Theatre, August 26th 1947. The production was directed by John Burrell. The production was actually designed by the following: Kathleen Ankers (Sets), Audrey Cruddas (Costumes); and John Sullivan (Lighting). Alix Stone designed the costumes for the Prologue.
