Costume design for Rachel Holland and Elsa Recagno as Female Guests, and projected costume design for Lucette Aldous as the Coquette. The design depicts three full length female figures wearing balletic adaptions of 1830's style evening dress. The figure on the left wears a grey skirt and bodice decorated with purple bows and flounces. The figure on the right wears a dark blue and gold skirt and bodice. The central figure wears a deep red skirt and bodice decorated with orange ribbons and flounces. All three figures wear ball masks and high hairstyles typical of the 1830's, decorated with plumes and ribbons. The central figure has been crossed out in pencil.

This costume design by Alix Stone is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist in 1994. The design was executed for a production of George Balanchine's ballet "Night Shadow", performed by Ballet Rambert at Sadler's Wells, July 18th 1961. The music, based on themes from the operas of Vincenzo Bellini, was composed by Vittorio Rieti. The cast included Lucette Aldous, Norman Morrice, and June Sandbrook. The ballet was revived several times by the company, including performances at Sadler's Wells in July 1964.

The ballet (also known as "La Sonnambula" in some versions), was originally performed by the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in New York, 1946.
