Children (both naughty and nice) were a popular subject for Victorian Christmas cards. This set of four shows neat, well-behaved youngsters in sailor suits and bonnets at the seaside. Children and babies symbolised the beginning of a new year, and summer scenes were a happy reminder that winter would soon be over.
