Object history | Doboujinsky designed George Balanchine's ballet "Ballet Imperial" for the premiere by American Ballet in 1941 and for the production by Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo in 1944. There appear to be minor differences between the designs and, despite the date of 1945 on the drawing, this design appears to relate to the earlier rather than the later production. The design came to the Museum as part of the Cyril Beaumont Bequest. |
