It has a red and gold boat-shaped resonator encircled from bow to stern with a distinctive dark green wavy band. The upper surface is covered with deerskin, and a tall arch rising from the prow, curves inwards. The thirteen strings run diagonally from the resonator to the arch to which they are fastened by red tasselled tuning cords.
