Production | Hind lists this print under T. Cockson, but states that the monogram used is also that of Thomas Cecill (see Note 1, page 241 of Engraving in England in the Sixteenth & Seventeenth Century, Part 1, (The Tudor Period). The subject of the engraving is uncertain and may be either Grigory Otrepyev, the usurper, the ‘False Demtetrius’ (1581-1606/7), or the ‘False Demetrius II’ (d. 1610).’ |
