Object history | The term 'club soda' was coined by Cantrell & Cochrane of Belfast in 1877. The drink was originally promoted as a health improving beverage, the specific claim being that it neutralized lactic acid in the blood. Cantrell & Cochrane, now known as the C&C Group, still own the trademark. |
