Richard Hunt has many accolades to his name. He has been widely described as the foremost African-American artist of public sculpture with over 160 public commissions across the USA, more than any other living artist. He was the youngest exhibiting artist at the Seattle World's Fair in 1962, and the first African American visual artist to be elected to the governing body of the National Endowment for the Arts in 1968. He was also the first African American sculptor to be given a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, 1971, one year before this suite of prints was created.
