Celandine Kennington was married to the artist Eric Kennington, best-known for his designs for war memorials. Her business 'Footprints Studio' was set up with Gwen Pike at Durham Wharf in Hammersmith, West London, and produced printed textiles designed by many popular artists of the day including Enid Marx, Norman Wilkinson, Paul Nash and Marion Dorn. Following the death of Gwen Pike in 1929, Joyce Clissold (1903-1982) took over its management ensuring the studio's survival well into the late 20th century.
