Object history
The Building News wrote of this design: 'The glass here is set out in large squares, after the fashion often seen in churches of the Renaissance...The colourings are as vigorous as the drawing, erring, if anything, perhaps, on the side of crudeness; but the whole conception is certainly a clever departure from the regulation oleograph style of window painting and deserves careful notice for its freshness and originality of design'. (May 7, 1886, p.731)
