Object history | In his autobiography Bookseller at the Ballet (Beaumont, London, 1975), Beaumont refers to 'an attractive poster' designed by Lakeman for Nijinsky's Palace Theatre season, after he had left Diaghilev, in 1914, showing Nijinsky as Harlequin, although Beaumont refers to the background as 'the original green curtain surround.' (p152). This painting may have been the artwork for a poster or a copy after it. The painting came to the Museum as part of the Cyril Beaumont Bequest. |
