Scottish born Duncan Grant (1885-1978) was a queer designer and artist in the Bloomsbury Group, formed in 1905. Linked by a spirit of rebellion, it consisted of philosophers and creatives who shared ideas, supported each other's work, and formed friendships and romances. This design of overlapping shapes could be seen as a nod to the quote that the Bloomsbury Group “lived in squares and loved in triangles” referencing the many interlocking romantic relationships of which Grant was central to.
