School Badge

1920-1929 (made)
Place of origin

School badge, embroidered in red, white and yellow silks on black wool over an embossed linen backing. The badge combines the coats of arms of the cities of London and Westminster, each contained within an oval cartouche, and conjoined by a mace. It also carries the motto 'UNITATE FORTIOR', which was adopted for the United Westminster Schools (of which Westminster City School was one) in 1873. It is intended for attachment to a blazer pocket, and may well have been the original one attached to B.178-2000; its shape is that of a rounded rectangle with a smaller rounded element on top.
