A bureau-cabinet decorated with red and gold japanning imitating lacquer. The upper part has a broken pediment and mirror glass in the doors. The lower part has a fall-front and two small, three long drawers. The japanning in good original condition inside. The leather is replaced on the fall-front. The arches over the pigeon-holes in the interior look as though they have a different surface and might be replacements.

Physical description
A bureau-cabinet decorated with red and gold japanning imitating lacquer. The upper part has a broken pediment and mirror glass in the doors. Object history
From the collection of Mrs Percy MacQuoid, Yellow House, Palace court, sold Christie's 30th June 1925. Illustrated in the Connoissuer magazine June 1925.

Given to the V&A by Frederick Howard Reed, in 1953 (see Registered File 53/3610). Mr Reed, who lived at 3 Berkeley House, Hay Hill, Berkeley Square, London, was a considerable collector of English 18th-century furniture.
