Every year the fine art handling company Momart commissions an artist to conceive its corporate Christmas greeting to send to its customers and contacts in the art world. In 2000, Momart gave a complete set of the cards/multiples produced from 1984 onwards, and have continued to donate an example of each subsequent year's card to the collection.
For Christmas 1985 Momart commissioned the British artist Richard Wentworth (born Samoa 1947). His witty take on the commercialisation of religious experience assumes the form of a conventional centre-folding Christmas card. The front image depicts a sign post in Bethlehem, signalling the direction of King David Cinema. The sign also reads 'DAVID'S WELL NOW SHOWING "JESUS". Inside the card is fixed a till receipt from Good Shepherd's Store, Beth-lehem, dated 08-08-85.
