Marks and inscriptions
Inscribed in typescript on sheet on headed notepaper attached to the back of the mount with title, scale, and notes on the colour symbolism of the design. This sheet is dated in ball-point pen by the donor 'August 1968' and is stamped in red ink (part torn away) 'Recomm[ended...]'.
Object history
The donor stated that shortly after the date of the commission the church was damaged in a fire and the design was not carried out. The theme of the design is baptism, with order emerging from chaos and light replacing dark.
