Seated Buddha

Figure of the Buddha Shakyamuni seated with his hands in bhumisparsha mudra. He has a tall, pointed "lotus bud" on the top of his ushnisha and a narrow band round the hairline across his forehead. One part ends in a bead and tassel, the other in a heart-shaped plaque of yellow fabric, silver thread, sequins and red glass beads. Probably Indian; 19th century.
