The rich convolvulus decoration on this vase is typical of pieces by Daum Frères. Pieces from this French glassworks in Nancy often have elaborate decoration based on simple hedgerow flowers. The brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum established a laboratory to train their designers and glass workers. Their chief decorator Henri Berge was supervisor. He probably designed, or supervised the design, of this 'vase aux liserons' (convolvulous).

Daum Frères, Auguste and Antonin, established a laboratory for the development and training of their designers and craftsmen which was headed by the chief decorator Henri Bergé. This vase was possibly either designed by him or under his direction. Described as 'vase aux liserons' (convolvulous) it is typical of Daum in the use of simple hedgerow flowers given, as here, lavish and highly charged treatment.
