Door-Way and Balcony Rails

The rectangular doorway has double side-jambs and a flamboyant pediment. The carving is mainly in medium relief, and consists of lotuses, conventional leaves, snake-motive and finials of Hansa and bulls-horn design.
The rails and gates are terminated by newels and have closely placed balusters between transoms ornamented with lotuses, leaves and inter-lacing strapwork.

Brief description
Burmese carved lacquered and gilded door-way and balcony rails possibly from a monastic building in the palace enclosure at Mandalay. Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885) Decorated with figurative, foliate and floral motifs. ca. 1880
