Object history
The Pennells (Joseph and Elizabeth Robins Pennell) identified this location as a forge in the small town of Perros-Guirec in Brittany. It was drawn in France in 1861. However, it was published as part of the 'Thames Set' depicting London scenes predominantly of of river workers. The official title for the series was 'A Series of Sixteen Etchings of Scenes on the Thames', published by Frederick Standridge Ellis (1830-1901) of Ellis & Green, London, 1871.
