The arms engraved on the glass are those of the Dutch town of Delft, flanked by millitary banners. A similarly decorated glass also features a guard with rifle and rapier. It is likely that this glass once belonged to the civil guard of Delft.

The attribution to Sang was suggested by F. G. A. M. Smit when he examined the glass in 1992.
