Place of origin

Vase of porcelain, cylindrical, with rounded shoulder, from which rises a cylindrical neck spread out at the mouth. The base is recessed and partly unglazed revealing the creamy-white body, and patches of grit adhere to the foot-ring. The body of the vase is painted with a figure scene, outlined in black and touched with aubergine purple, red, blue, yellow and several shades of green; standing beneath a pine-tree on a hill-top, and overlooking a temple which rises into the clouds. Below are borders of waves and of concentric 'clouds'; above, borders of stiff leaves with pendant tassels, prunus flowers and cracked ice, clouds, and rocks amidst waves.
