Mustard pot of porcelain, globular in form with small straight-sided mouth and hollow, spreading pedestal foot, having a simple loop handle projecting from the shoulder with curled tip below; the circular, flat lid is rimmed in gilt metal with connection to a hinge attached by a leaf-shaped clip to the top of the handle, and having an upright shell-shaped thumbpiece; the addition of a small seated figure of a turbanned Indian provides a knob handle.

Painted in red, turquoise green, greyish aubergine and black enamels with some gilding. The sides are moulded with lotus-like petals picked out in gilt and containing flower spray of prunus, aster, orchid, etc.; floral scrollwork on the lid, and formal 'strapwork' down the handle; chevron and petal borders on the foot.
