Ewer with flattened bulbous body, spreading foot, long tubular spout, narrow neck with knob, expanding upwards to form a cup (restored in gold lacquer) to which is attached the upper end of the loop handle. Painted on either side with a phoenix among floral scrolls; on the shoulder and base of spout, bands of "stiff leaves", on the neck and handle, foliate scrolls. The blue has turned to blackish grey at the foot of the piece.

Physical description
