Plaque, one of a set of four. Rectangular, grooved on the back surface for insertion into a frame. Bluish-white porcelain, painted in overglaze black, grey, blue and red with a scene of four magpies above flowering branches and gnarled rocks. The auspicious meaning is explained in an inscription to the upper left reads: 'Magpies having their aspiration fulfilled' 'by Shuren in the style of Ren Bonian'. Red seal 'Liu'.
