Object history
The tea set [FE.63 to 71-1990] was first produced and hand-decorated by the Liling factory in the 1960s. In order to demonstrate that such high-quality domestic product could still be made, the Hong Kong Museum of Art commissioned the Hunan Ceramics Research Institute to produce 100 sets, and then sold them by mail-order at a cost of HK$ 980. It is reported that the order from Hunan took some years to arrive.
