Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Made at Tongguan kilns, Changsha. Small jarlet of globular form with small mouth and solid footring. Round the upper half of the outside body is a layer of slip; the transparent greenish glaze that overlays it can be seen forming a line lower down the body. Beneath the mouth is a simple pattern of three blobs of underglaze copper pigment, repeated three times. This possibly represents a simplified flower spray; the copper has reduced olive green. The body is coarse, greyish-buff stoneware; turning whorl can be seen on inside base.
