Netsuke, a pair of quails and millet stems in a winnowing basket in katabori ('shape carving') form, with the head of one bird turned back and the other with its head down and pecking at some grain, in carved and stained ivory with inlaid eyes. Of the holes (himotôshi) for attaching the cord, one is on the underside, while the other is provided by an oipening on the upper side of the netsuke.
