This is one of the last Chad Valley teddy bears. The famous company took over the Chiltern Company in 1967 and bears were then produced using both names. This one was entitled to wear the Design Council label as an example of good design. It is a factory sample and has been safety tested. As a result it has a large hole it its back.

Mohair plush teddy bear made by Chad Valley/Chiltern in 1977
Physical description
A card window box, printed in colours on blue to show the title, maker's details and photographs of soft toys and children and containing on 'real mohair luxury soft toy' The bear is made gold mohair plush with dark velveteen paws, light brown and black plastic eyes and a black embroidered mouth and nose. There is an orange ribbon around the neck. The bear has been tested at the centre back with a hole deep into the stuffing.
