Hanging scroll of dark cream satin embroidered with coloured silk in satin, long and short and stem stitches with Pekin knots and couched gold thread.
The scene depicted is a Taoist paradise. At the top of the scroll the tops of temples appear through swirling clouds. Three Taoist deities, holding a basket of flowers, a ru-i sceptre and fungus respectively, float on the clouds. A phoenix is also flying through the sky.
At the bottom of the scroll is a seated deity, with ru-i sceptre, attended upon by four further deities holding peaches, a vase, pomegranates and fungus respectively. The throne on which the central deity sits has a canopy ornamented with flaming pearls, flowers, and gourd vases. A deer (Taoist emblem of longevity) walks in front.
The central area of the scroll is occupied by a landscape of rocky mountains, clouds and pine trees.
