Priest's robe (Kwava) of silk brocade, woven in strips of gilt paper on a brown silk ground. Worn by a Buddhist Priest of the Jodo (Pure Land) Sect. It consists of an oblong panel, suspended from four bands, and a shoulder-piece. The pattern consists of a medley of motives (dragons, rosettes, broken diaper, and a selection of the Takaramono or Treasures of the Seven Gods of Luck). Partly lined with white silk damask (floral pattern).
