Gallery label
This vase follows tastes established in Europe, particularly in France, for enamelled opal glass. The decoration would have been approved by design-reformers such as Henry Cole - the naturalistically rendered passion-flowers, convolvulus, tulips and iris being deemed 'appropriate' for a flower vase.
