Model piece for the cut borders in Act II & III of "Robinson Crusoe". The border, painted predominately in green and blue, depicts two palm trees, and fronds of tropical leaves entwined across the top of the border. On the reverse are paint daubs, and a piece of card has been glued on to strengthen the model piece. Unsigned by the artist.

Object history | This Model piece by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for Opera Rara's production of Offenbach's operetta "Robinson Crusoe" at the Collegiate (now Bloomsbury) Theatre, March 7th, 1973. The operetta was translated by Don White, and the production was directed by William Chapell. The production was subsequently revived by the London Opera Centre at Sadler's Wells in April 1974, and July 1976. |
