This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project. Listed in A CATALOGUE OF THE MUSEUM OF ORNAMENTAL ART AT MARLBOROUGH HOUSE, PALL MALL March 1854 as: F3 Japan tea caddy, papier mache. Purchased of Hewett & Co 18 Fenchurch Street, at £1.1s. 1852.
