Chest of drawers
About 1600

This chest of drawers is extensively inlaid with mother-of-pearl and has relatively crude gold lacquer decoration on a black lacquer ground. Following the conventions of European furniture, chests of this type were often fitted with a front panel hinged at the bottom or with a pair of doors.
