Folding fan. The mount is of paper, painted in body-colours with gilt paper edging, and having pieces of tinted porcelain (for the faces) and pieces of silk (for the robes) glued on; the sticks and guards are of pierced and carved ivory. The fan has a chased metal loop.
The pattern on both the back and the front of the mounts consists of men and women in the courts of buildings; landscapes appear without; there is a border of flowers, symbolical objects, fishes, butterflies, and cartouches enclosing buildings in landscapes. The sticks and guards are carved with figures, buildings and floral ornament.
