Panel of buff silk embroidered with coloured silks in many varieties of laid and couched work (some partially raised), satin and long and short stitches. There is also some couched gold thread.
The panel shows a depiction of the Death of Buddha. Buddha is shown reclining in a woodland setting surrounded by grief-stricken figures who pay homage. Above him are the heavens and at the bottom of the picture, there are many animals.
The picture is now framed and glazed and the original rollers at each end have been detached.
