Object history
From a collection of textile fragments (IS.6 to IS.33-1972), samples from the many quilted interlinings of a jacket, part of the 'Rich War Dress' of Tipu Sahib, Sultan of Mysore. This jacket was among the trophies of Seringapatam (Sriringapatna) presented to the Crown by Lord Wellesley in 1799. Samples removed during recent (1971) conservation of the jacket.
