Object history | Acquired by Caspar Purdon Clarke on his purchasing trip to India in 1881 to 1882. 1883 South Kensington Museum Register Entry: 'DRESS PIECE (Sari). Cotton. The warp is red, the weft of blue cotton. The principal end has a narrow transverse band and stripe in gold thread. Masulipatam. 19th cent. L. 22ft. 2 in., W. 3 ft. 3 in. Bought, 6s.' |
