Object history | Acquired by Caspar Purdon Clarke on his purchasing trip to India in 1881 to 1882. 1883 South Kensington Museum Register entry: 'DRESS PIECE (Sari). Cream cotton net with narrow side borders containing a diaper pattern in brown on a red ground; a broad end border of gold thread, with red stripes. Nandipatam. 19th cent. L. 24 ft. 8 in., W. 3 ft. 74 in. Bought, £1 2s. 1774.-1883. (I.S.).' |
